TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin said that one polling station in Cimahi City was hindered with no ballot papers for the presidential election. The governor has proposed to hold a follow-up election.

"[The voting] will be done later. [In Cimahi] there was one empty ballot box for the presidential ballot papers, and it has been discussed that follow-up voting will be held," he said on Wednesday.

The issue was reported by the Acting Mayor of Cimahi Diky Saromi during a teleconference with Bey Machmudin and all regents and mayors of West Java at Gedung Sate, Bandung, today. Each regional head reported the election situation in their respective region.

Diky Saromi reported that at polling station 60 in RW 11 neighborhood, Utama Subdistrict, South Cimahi, voting was postponed because the presidential election ballot box was empty. "It has been reported to the Cimahi KPU (General Elections Commission)," he said.

According to Diky, still in the same sub-district, namely at polling station 5, Cimahi City DRPD ballot papers had reportedly been mixed up with other electoral districts. "This matter is still awaiting the decision of KPU and Bawaslu," he said.

West Java KPU member Adie Saputro confirmed that reports of empty ballot boxes had just been received from Cimahi City. "Just Cimahi," he said on February 14, 2024.

Adie said that a follow-up election would be held in this case. "There will be a follow-up election in a maximum of 10 days," he said.
