TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi visited a coffee factory in the Philippines, Kopiko Philippines Corporation (KPC), which is a part of Mayora Indah, a Jakarta-based food giant, on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
“We see the investment of our Indonesian company in the Philippines, Mayora, which controls almost 50 percent of the Philippine market,” the President said in Carmona.
KPC produces a large number of coffee products, and he hoped that the industry could have a positive impact on Indonesian farmers to contribute to the coffee supply.
“So I think the huge number of sachet coffee products will contribute to the need for raw materials of coffee, cassava, and others which will be very good for farmers,” he said as quoted from the President’s website.
The state head also visited the seaweed processing industry at W Hydrocolloids Inc. He believed that Indonesia also has a great opportunity to develop the industry supported by large coastal areas.
President Jokowi will visit Vietnam and Brunei Darussalam until January 14, 2024, after his visit to the Philippines.
