TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Islam is the second-largest religion globally. Despite this fact, Muslims are not evenly distributed and instead concentrated in several countries. Citing worldpopulationreview.com, below are the top ten countries with the largest population of Muslims in 2024:

1. Pakistan (240,800,000 people)

2. Indonesia (236,000,000 people)

3. India (200,000,000 people)

4. Bangladesh (150,800,000 people)

5. Nigeria (97,000,000 people)

6. Egypt (90,000,000 people)

7. Turkey (84,400,000 people)

8. Iran (82,500,000 people)

9. China (50,000,000 people)

10. Algeria (43,700,000 people)

In 2024, Pakistan dethroned Indonesia as the longtime holder of the world's largest Muslim population. While Pakistan is the fifth-most populous country in the world, it is ranked second in terms of Muslim percentage out of the total population. Several smaller nations have larger percentages of Muslim inhabitants compared to the countries included in the above-mentioned list.
