TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Service recorded 200 positive cases per day of COVID-19 in the capital city this week.

"Almost 90 percent of positive COVID-19 cases in Jakarta are dominated by patients without symptoms and mild symptoms, you would recover during three to five days of self-isolation at home," the head of the Epidemiology and Immunization Surveillance Department of the Jakarta Health Service, Ngabila Salama, said on Sunday, December 17, 2023.

Despite active cases, she assured the public that the number of hospitalized patients suggests COVID-19 is under control in Jakarta.

"The situation is still under control. The hospital occupancy rate is around five percent of the total beds provided, or around 50-60 patients who are being treated in hospital (10 percent of positive active cases in Jakarta)," she said.

Salama then reminded the public to complete the COVID-19 vaccination considering the disease's reappearance.

As of Sunday, the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination in Jakarta had been distributed to 12,592,988 people (134.2 percent of the total target), followed by 10,955,959 people (116.77 percent) for the second dose, the third dose with 5,546,155 people (74.99 percent), and the fourth dose with 724,553 people (9.8 percent), while the fifth dose had been distributed to 52 people.

The vaccine currently available at the Jakarta district health centers, Tarakan Hospital, and Jakarta City Hall is the Inavac vaccine.

Salama informed that vaccination is available at the Tarakan District Hospital from Monday to Saturday at 08:00-12:00 local time, Jakarta City Hall clinic on Monday-Friday at 13:00-16:00 local time, and all district health centers on working hours.

People who want to get the vaccine can come directly to the location without prior registration, she added.

"All vaccine brands can be used for doses 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 without looking at the brand from the previous injection," she emphasized.

She noted that all vaccination services are ready to provide a free 5th dose of COVID-19 vaccination for all Indonesian residents aged 18 years and over, according to the circular letter of the Indonesian Ministry of Health on December 15, 2023.

"The government's current focus is protecting vulnerable groups by completing five doses of vaccinations and early detection," she said.
