TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) has formed rapid response teams (TRC) that are on standby in each sub-district to deal with floods.

“There are 267 people on standby to handle flood disasters. They are on duty 24 hours a day,” the acting head of BPBD Jakarta Isnawa Adji said on Tuesday, Nov. 7, as quoted from Antara.

The rapid response team is tasked with handling disasters, such as floods, providing information, and evacuating residents in the city, as well as handling and monitoring post-disaster situations.

BPBD Jakarta cooperates with the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the Water Resources Agency (SDA), and the Jakarta Fire and Rescue Agency (Gulkarmat), mayors/regents, and related agencies for flood management and other disasters in each area.

BPBD Jakarta also publishes the latest weather and water level (TMA) information through its social media channels and website bpbd.jakarta.go.id and issues early warnings via the Disaster Early Warning System (DEWS) and SMS Blast, as well as websites, social media, WhatsApp group, and Telegram channel.

Isnawa appealed to the public to be prepared for the possibility of hydrometeorological disasters such as floods, landslides, and strong winds in Jakarta areas during the rainy season. “Call 112, which is available 24 hours a day, if you find any potential danger,” he said.
