1. Minister: No Need to Doubt Govt's Stance on Palestine's Independence
The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK), Muhadjir Effendi, who was present at the Pro-Palestine Rally in Jakarta on Sunday, October 5, 2023, emphasized that the public does not need to doubt the government's stance on Palestine's independence.
He conveyed this together with Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi who were present at the activity.
"We are here to represent the government," he said.
2. Jakarta Should Brace for Flooding, Says Lawmaker
A senior lawmaker has warned the Jakarta Water Resource Management Agency to brace for potential flooding in some parts of Jakarta during the rainy season.
"To anticipate the flooding, all waterways, 'embung' (artificial lakes), and water catchments need to be cleaned up," said Head of Commission D of the Jakarta legislative body, Ida Mahmudah, on Friday, November 3, 2023.
By doing so prior to the start of the rainy season, all 'embung' and water catchments will be able to store reserve water optimally, she explained.
3. Indonesia Sends 51.5 Tons Humanitarian Aid to Palestine
Indonesian President Joko Widodo or Jokowi today, Nov. 4, sent off the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. It was a collective aid from the Indonesian Government, Indonesian Military (TNI), Indonesian Police, Indonesian Red Cross, National Zakat Body (Baznas), Zakat Forum, and the people of Indonesia for the Palestinian victims of war-torn Gaza.
The aid, weighing a total of 51.5 tons, comprises water purifiers and medical kits, which will be sent in two batches.
In the press conference, Jokowi explained that the things that were sent were based on the needs of the Palestinians in Gaza. "For example the water purifier, as it is hard for them (to get drinking water)," he said at the Halim Perdana Kusuma Airport, Jakarta.
