TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) clarified issues that the Whoosh high-speed train broke down on Tuesday, Oct. 31. The corporate secretary Eva Chairunisa ensured that there was no breakdown.

“All operating facilities of Whoosh are reliable and fit and have never been damaged since the trials until the official operation now,” Eva said in a press statement on Wednesday.

As reported earlier, two trains were halted for about 15 minutes due to a power outage at the state electricity giant PLN’s Kiaracondong-Gedebage power substation at around 10:30 p.m.

KCIC apologized for the inconvenience caused by the incident. The company also cooperated with PLN to evaluate to prevent such cases from recurring.

Due to the power cut, two trains, G1126 of the Tegalluar-Halim route and G1123 of the Halim-Padalarang route were stranded on the railway. “The power returned to normal, and Whoosh resumed operations at 10:45 a.m.,” Eva said.

Last week, the bullet train trips were also delayed for about 20 minutes on Monday, Oct. 23. Train G1125 heading to Tegalluar from Halim stopped at 10:45 a.m. at KM 105 after the driver received a report of an unknown person climbing the barrier wall at KM 103, Padalarang, West Bandung.

“It’s initially suspected that the person has a mental disorder and wanted to harm himself or attempted suicide,” Eva said in a press statement on Tuesday, Oct. 24, adding that KCIC took the person to the authorities for further investigation.
