TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati reported a new debt of Rp198.9 trillion as of September 2023. This year’s allocation for debt financing amounted to Rp696.3 trillion.

“The debt realization as of September is actually still very small, our debt financing is Rp696.3 trillion,” Sri said at a press conference on the state budget in Central Jakarta on Wednesday, October 25.

This means, she continued, that the debt is equivalent to 28.6 percent of the debt financing allocation in the Law on State Budget or APBN 2023.

“Compared to last year, we have seen a very sharp decline in debt financing,” Sri added.

New debt withdrawals decreased by 58.6 percent compared to the same period last year (year-on-year/yoy). In September 2022, the debt withdrawal reached Rp480.4 trillion.

In detail, this debt financing consists of the issuance of Government Securities (SBN) of Rp181.4 trillion and loans of Rp17.4 trillion.

Sri Mulyani said the net allocation for SBN issuance this year was Rp712.9 trillion. “But we have only realized 25.4 percent of the total net SBN,” she claimed, adding that the figure also saw a significant decline. Last year’s SBN issuance amounted to Rp470.9 trillion or down 61.5 percent.
