TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Commissioner of the National Commission for Child Protection (KPAI) Aris Adi Leksono urged the Communication and Informatics Ministry, the police, and authorities to take down and block applications with potential ties to child prostitution networks.

The demand was relayed by Aris following two separate child prostitution cases recently discovered by the police, namely the arrest of FEA and JL in South Jakarta, who trafficked children for sexual exploitation online.

"Applications suspected of creating the opportunity for prostitution network must be taken down and blocked," he said when called by Tempo on Friday.

According to Aris, these applications are also creating opportunities for promoting the services of prostitution. These applications are high risk since they allow undetected transactions. "Application-based networks allow people to conduct transactions anywhere from their homes, apartment, kost, or even mall. It's dangerous," he said. This could potentially lure children, according to Aris.

When asked if KPAI supervised the suspected applications with the indication of ties to the child prostitution network, Aris said that he reached that conclusion from findings in human trafficking cases involving children, including as victims of sexual exploitation.
