Indonesian Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan alias Zulhas issued ministerial regulations addressing cooperation with the organizers of trade through electronic systems (PPMSE) following President Joko Widodo or Jokowi’s directive to tighten the entry of imported goods in a bid to protect micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Sri released Finance Ministerial Regulation No. 96 of 2023 concerning Customs, Excise, and Tax Provisions for the Import and Export of Consigned Goods, while Zulhas passed Trade Ministerial Regulation No. 31 of 2023 on Business Licensing, Advertising, Guidance and Supervision of Business Actors in Electronic Systems Trading.

2. APNI Targets End-of-Year Nickel Price Index Formation

The head of the Indonesian Nickel Miner Association (APNI) Nanan Soekarna targeted the formation of the Indonesian Nickel Price Index to be finalized by the end of the year. The index will ensure Indonesia's dependency on the London Metal Exchange (LME) or Shanghai Metal Markets (SMM) by deciding on its own nickel price index.

"The market price, it's on us to decide. No other parties," Nanan said when met at the Sudirman area in South Jakarta on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

3. Indonesian Immigration Launches New Education Visa

Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration launched the latest version of the education visa on Thursday, Oct. 13, to make it easier for foreign nationals seeking to pursue their studies in the country.

“We are providing this convenience to support Indonesia as a destination for international students,” said Director for Immigration Stay Permits Heru Tjondro at the launch held during the 2023 Immigration Festival-IMIFEST at Grha Sabha Pramana, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Yogyakarta, on Thursday, October 12, 2023.

Quoted from Antara, Heru hoped that the new student visa could further improve the educational tourism industry and bring positive impacts on national development.
