TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) announced that the office will ease visa regulation for the families of Indonesian victims of the Taiwan gas explosion. Around eight Indonesian migrant workers were injured in the explosion.

"TETO will provide aid to ease the visa authorization if the victims' families intend to visit Taiwan," TETO provided in a brief message received in Jakarta on Monday, September 25, 2023.

Previously, an alleged gas explosion was reported on Sunday evening in a residential building in Tainan City, Taiwan, as reported by Taiwan News. The explosion injured eight Indonesian migrant workers who were attending a party at the location with second and third-degree burns.

The workers were reportedly brought to the hospital to receive treatment.

According to the report by the media, firefighters said there was no obvious fire or smoke but a strong smell of gas when they arrived at the scene. Firefighters found evidence that a defective gas cylinder in the kitchen was responsible for the blast.

The fire caused the residence ceiling to collapse and the kitchen was charred by flames.
