TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Management site (TPS 3R) is one of the collaborative attempts to combat waste problems. The Badung regional government of Bali, in partnership with Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Indonesia (CCEP Indonesia) and supported by PT Tata Logam Lestari inaugurated several infrastructures development to TPS 3R Seminyak. It consisted of a shelter and sorting room and other supporting facilities.

"The principle we uphold is that to throw out waste is to transfer the problem to other people, so per the Maritime and Investment Coordinating Minister's order, we provide at least one TPS 3R in every village or sub-district in Badung Regency," said the Badung Regent I Nyoman Giri Prasta in Seminyak, Badung, Bali, in a press release received by Tempo on July 7, 2023.

Giri explained that in 2024 the government will issue new regulations while continue providing TRP 3R and Integrated Waste Management sites (TPST). The program will schedule every village and sub-district to collect their organic waste on Monday, inorganic waste on Tuesday, and wet waste on Wednesday. "The waste will be turned into animal feed," he said.

TPS 3R stands on a 1,270 square meter ground and cannot be separated from the waste management initiative by CCEP Indonesia, such as the Bali Beach Up program initiated in 2007. The beach cleanup program stretches over 9.7 kilometers consisting of 5 beaches, Kuta Beach, Seminyak Beach, Legian Beach, Kedonganan Beach, and Jimbaran Beach. "The initiative is bound to our sustainability strategy and support for the government's effort to reduce 70% of sea waste by 2050," said Lucia Karina, the Vice President of Public Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability CCEP Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

The company has at least three main components to practice circular economy in combating plastic pollution; eliminating unnecessary wrapping with a 100% recyclability rate by 2025 and stopping virgin plastic usage in producing plastic bottles by 2030. Pushing a 50% rate for rPET in product packaging by 2025 and collecting 100% of produced plastic bottles by 2023, and lastly, investing and innovating a solution for future product packaging.

Until 2022, the company managed to collect 12,585 tons of PET packaging from 24 collecting sites managed by Mahija. Presently, CCEP Indonesia in partnership with Dynapack Asia is striving to invest in and collect waste by establishing recycling factories; Amandina Bumi Nusantara and Yayasan Mahija Parahita Nusantara.

The other partner in Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Waste Management site (TPS 3R) program, PT Tata Logam Lestari is also responsible for beneficial impacts toward the citizens through their support for this initiative. "It is proving our commitment to walk the talk of our concern to the environment including communities and this planet to realize a sustainable life for future generations and for the success of the green government and climate change agenda," said Maharny Putri, Head of Government and Public Relations Tatalogam Group.
