TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Cyber and Encryption Agency (BSSN) renewed the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Chinese telecom giant Huawei for cooperation in cyber security.

The deal was signed by BSSN Head Lt. Gen. (ret.) Hinsa Siburian and Huawei Indonesia CEO Guo Hailong, and witnessed by Huawei Global Cyber Security and Privacy Officer Sean Yang.

The signing took place during the visit of BSSN to Huawei HQ in Shenzhen and Huawei's Cyber Security and Privacy Protection Transparency Center in Dongguan, China.

Hinsa appreciated the synergy that has been carried out well and has helped to increase the capability of both the agency’s personnel and stakeholders.

“In accordance with the implementation of the quad helix in the Cyber and Password Security Strategy, the private sector also plays a vital role in securing national cyberspace,” Hinsa said in a release published on Thursday, June 15, 2023.

He hoped that Huawei could keep participating in and improving cyber security literacy for the community as part of the national program. He also hoped that cyber security training could continue to be held in line with the latest technological developments.

Specifically, Hinsa expected further competency development for the agency’s HR in order to produce reliable and competent cybersecurity human resources.

Meanwhile, Sean Yang emphasized the importance of protection against cyber threats in today's digital era. According to him, collaboration between industry players is aimed at sharing best practices, as well as increasing collective capabilities in the fields of governance, standards, technology, and verification.

“We must instill trust in the public and regulators regarding the safety of the products and services they use daily,” he said.
