TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia and South Korea planned to make electric vehicles with batik motifs in 50 years diplomatic relationship anniversary between the two countries.

"Not only about electric vehicles, but batik is also important as UNESCO cultural heritage, and needed to be promoted," said the deputy of Indonesian Embassy representative in Seoul, Zelda Wulan Kartika, as reported by Antara on Friday, June 2.

The batik motif that would be built on the EV is Solo batik. The government partners with South Korean automotive manufacturers for the making of this car. The electric car will be launched in the middle of this year at an automotive exhibition in Indonesia.

Detailed information regarding the Batik EV is still unavailable. The electric vehicle is in line with the government's program in accelerating the electrification transition of vehicles in the country.

The diplomatic partnership between Indonesia and South Korea has been established since 1973. KBRI in Seoul said several events would be held in 50 year bilateral partnership anniversary, such as business forums held on several topics namely partnership in the financial sector, electric vehicles, health, and renewable energy investment.
