TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo responded to the rejection of holding a Coldplay concert which is scheduled to take place next month in Jakarta. The rejection came from the Alumni Brotherhood or PA 212 on the grounds that the band from England is a supporter of the LGBT community.
Angela said on Friday in Jakarta that the event is seen as an opportunity. She also said that President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi had asked for permission to organize events, such as concerts, to be made easier.
"So we [need to] work in that corridor, and as long as the event is beneficial to the community, we will support it," Angela said.
In fact, the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno has said he was seeking to get Coldplay to add more dates to its tour in Indonesia. The band is scheduled to play at the Bung Karno Main Stadium (GBK) on November 15.
Sandiaga claimed he had asked Coldplay's concert promoter, PK Entertainment, to add one more day of holding in Jakarta, promising that his ministry would help facilitate it.
Accordint to latest reports, the UK band has decided to add more concert dates in Perth, Australia and Kaohsing, Taiwan.
