TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Long queues were seen at Singapore Changi Airport on Friday, March 31. Problems with Changi airport's immigration clearance system had caused a delay, something that rarely happens at one of the world's busiest and top-rated airports.

The delays affected hundreds of passengers, who had to queue in long lines at the airport's departure areas.

"There have been delays at some passenger clearance checkpoints," the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) said in a Facebook update as reported by Channel NewsAsia.

The airport's authority confirmed Friday's mess and said there were problems in the immigration clearance counters, and that automated lanes for departure at all four terminals were affected

Travelers were redirected to manual lanes for immigration clearance and the ICE asked to delay non-essential departure overseas. The airport's management also asked travelers to arrive earlier than usual.

Around 8:00 p.m., the ICA posted an announcement to its Facebook page that immigration clearance at Changi Airport has resumed normalcy. "We regret the inconvenience caused earlier and thank all affected travelers for their understanding and patience.
