TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Wings Air will re-activate its commercial routes in Wakatobi, Southeast Sulawesi after the government set the budget of Rp4 billion. The management of Wings Air and Lion Air Group confirmed the information on its official website cited on Thursday, March 23.

"Explore the marine tourism of Southeast Sulawesi together with Wings Air," the company announced with the attached image of the routes list.

There will be two flight schedules, namely Kendari - Wakatobi route at 10:50-11:35 Central Indonesia Time (WITA) with flight number IW 1335 and Wakatobi - Kendari route at 12:00-12:45 Central Indonesia Time with flight number IW 1335 starting on April 10, 2023.

In addition, there will be the route of Baubau - Kendari at 10:00-10:30 WITA with flight number IW 1318 and Kendari - Baubau route at 13:10-13:40 WITA with flight number IW 1319.

These flights are only available for two days every week, on Monday and Friday. Wings Air had previously halted its operation regularly from and to Wakatobi since July 8, 2022.

Responding to that matter, Southeast Sulawesi Tourism Agency head Belli Harli Tombili said that Wakatobi Regency disbursed a budget of Rp4 billion to re-activate flight routes in Wakatobi. “The province did not set the budget, Wakatobi did for Rp4 billion,” said Belli when contacted on Thursday.

He also welcomed the re-operation of Wings Air in Wakatobi as the regency had been named as one of the 10 priority destinations in Indonesia.

“We hope that this can be utilized by Tourism Department in Wakatob including the tour operators there to intensify promotions to visit Wakatoby Regency,” Belli remarked.
