TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi today will inaugurate the Great Temple of Besakih site in Karangasem Regency, Bali. After that, Jokowi will head to Denpasar City to inspect the Kesiman Kertalangu Integrated Waste Management Site (TPST).

A statement released by the Palace on Monday, March 13 said that the president is also scheduled to inaugurate the infrastructure.

Accompanied by a number of officials, President Jokowi and First Lady Iriana took off on the President's Jet from Jakarta's Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base at around 07:30 West Indonesia Time. He landed at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Badung Regency at around 10:15 Central Indonesia Time.

At Ngurah Rai Airport, the President and Madame Iriana were welcomed by Bali Governor I Wayan Koster, his wife, and other officials.

In this visit to Bali, Jokowi was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Presidential Military Secretary Rear Admiral Hersan, the Presidential Protection Guard (Paspampres) Commander Maj. Gen. Rafael Granada Baay, and the Presidential Secretariat's deputy for protocol, press and media Bey Machmudin.

The Great Temple of Besakih is a sacred site serving as the center of worship for Hindu Balinese. It is also a major tourist destination spot. The area's revitalization project was carried out by PT Pembangunan Perumahan (PP) and PT Ciriajasa Cipta Mandiri as the construction management consultants under a multiyear contract (MYC) scheme for 2021-2022.

The revitalization covers two areas, Manik Mas and Becingah

Last September, Boby Ali Azhari, director of building management at the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), said that the revitalization work at Bekasih Temple began in August 2021 with a design and build mechanism using Rp378.4 billion from the state budget.
