TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government's Humanitarian Mission team dispatched to Turkey to assist post-earthquake relief efforts is building a field hospital in Hassa City in Hatay. The work began following the arrival of the second batch of humanitarian aid from Jakarta.

The second aid from Indonesia arrived at Sakirpasa Airport, Adana Monday night, February 13. The package included 119 emergency medical team (EMT) personnel, the field hospital, and logistical assistance weighing almost 40 tons.

"The hospital was built so that it can directly help victims around the city of Hassa and from other cities that have not been treated," the Indonesian Embassy said in a release Tempo received on February 14.

The third batch of aid from the government is scheduled to depart this Sunday, consisting of 4 planes carrying 80 tons of humanitarian aid to Turkey and Syria.

A week after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Turkey and Syria, the number of lives lost has climbed to more than 37,000 as of Tuesday, 14 February. Of those who survived, many were displaced and had to sleep in their cars or in the open air under thick blankets amid the freezing winter.

There are around 6,500 Indonesians living in Turkey and 836 in Syria. In Turkey, 616 Indonesians have been living in earthquake-affected areas, 123 of whom have been evacuated by the Indonesian government.
