TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin on Thursday asserted that the second booster vaccination for adults is still free of charge nationwide.

“You can check the information about it at the PeduliLindungi app,” said the Minister in a written statement on February 9.

However, his side is mulling over the paid vaccination option as an alternative. “This policy will likely be implemented as soon as the transition between the pandemic to the endemic ends,” says the Minister,

The Minister emphasized that the second booster is being given as an effort to accelerate vaccination to increase antibody titers and extend protection for the masses. "During this transitional period from pandemic to endemic, the government will be more aggressive in disseminating health protocols, vaccinations, new variants, and regarding community immunity," said Budi Gunadi.

Budi also said that 2023 is the year in which Indonesia will shift from a pandemic to an endemic. The Ministry of Health reportedly is preparing a strategic framework and is continuing discussions with the World Health Organization (WHO).
