K-Drama Dream High to Be Made into a Musical

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A Korean drama Dream High, starring Hallyu stars Kim Soo Hyun, Suzy, and IU, will be adapted into a musical show, Art One Company announced on Thursday, January 26, 2023.

The Korean-based entertainment firm planned to launch the musical show of the popular drama in the first half of the year. “Dream High musical will combine traditional music and dance,” said Art One Company on Thursday.

The TV series airing on KBS2 in 2011 follows the story of six students in an art high school trying to reach their dreams of becoming superstars or K-pop idols. Along the way, they find the true meaning of friendship, love, and life.

The upcoming musical will depict the story after the main characters graduate from high school. It is expected to revive memories loved by fans 12 years ago and bring new excitement as the story unfolds before their eyes.

“It will be like watching a concert,” said a representative for Art One Company. Aside from the anticipation to see how the drama turns into a musical, public curiosity exploded over who will play the iconic characters.

The cast and further details of the musical version of Dream High will be announced at a later date.
