TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Office has prepared 300 vaccination locations to support the provision of the fourth dose or second booster of the COVID-19 vaccine to the public from January 24, 2023.

"Second booster or fourth dose vaccination for the general public aged 18 years and over will start on January 24, 2023," Head of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Immunization at the office, Ngabila Salama, informed on Friday.

The office will also continue to provide COVID-19 vaccination services in the evening and night from Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at 44 community health centers (puskesmas) in the province.

In addition, weekend vaccination services will remain open to the public. Based on information provided by the Jakarta Health Office, there are around 70 weekend vaccination locations.

Head of the Communication and Public Service Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia Tarmizi, said that people aged 18 years and over can get the second booster without having to wait for a ticket to be issued first through the PeduliLindungi application.

"However, currently, PCare (a vaccination data collection application) and PeduliLindungi are still in the adjustment stage," she noted.

The Ministry of Health has issued a circular on the provision of the second booster to the general public from January 24.

The circular was signed by the ministry's Director General of Disease Prevention and Control, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, on Friday.

According to the circular, the second booster will be provided at an interval of six months following the first booster.

As part of efforts to boost community immunity against COVID-19, the Indonesian government launched a nationwide vaccination program on January 13, 2021, targeting 234,666,020 citizens.

According to data provided by the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, as of January 20, 2023, as many as 204,153,399 Indonesians have received the first vaccine dose, 174,975,201 have been administered the second dose, and 69,121,956 have taken the third dose or first booster.

Meanwhile, 1,226,364 people (health workers and older adults) have received the fourth dose or second booster.
