TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Sleep is essential for many, especially children. Besides aiming to rest the body, sleep also plays a role in facilitating various systems within the body. Children's sleep schedule could greatly affect their height in the future.

During sleep, a child's body produces growth hormones which could play a role in their growth, building muscle mass and regenerating damaged cells and body tissues.

According to a specialist in nutrition and metabolic diseases, Damayanti R. Sjarif, the highest production of growth hormone occurred from 23:00 to 02:00 in the morning. This hormone can emerge optimally when the child is well-rested.

Therefore, sleeping after 23:00 for children can potentially inhibit growth hormones to develop. This can trigger various serious diseases such as Growth Hormone Deficiency.

Not only that, as reported from the Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya official website, the adequate time for children to sleep is generally around 10-13 hours per day. If children don't get enough sleep or stay up late, it can cause various harmful effects on the body, such as obesity, disturbed body metabolism, and disrupted brain function.

Quoted from Antaranews, there are several ways for children to fall asleep quickly at night, such as by giving them herbal ingredients like chamomile, drinking warm milk, and using aromatherapy in the bedroom to create a relaxed atmosphere.
