TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati reported that the implementation of the 2022 State Budget recorded a positive performance which, she opined, was in line with the improving domestic economy and the increasingly controlled COVID-19 pandemic.

The 2022 State Budget, she said, is an instrument to support the achievement of development targets, dampen the impact of global economic turmoil, and maintain people's welfare.

“The good performance of the state budget in 2022 and the momentum of economic growth are expected to be strong capital amid economic uncertainty in 2023,” said Sri in a press conference which was broadcast live via the ministry's YouTube channel on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

The hard work of the state budget for the last three years has succeeded in protecting the people and economy of Indonesia. “The government continues to optimize the role of the State Budget as a shock absorber in easing global economic turmoil,” the state treasurer explained.

She argued that in the fourth quarter of 2022, the country’s economic activity was relatively good and brought optimism. “But we exercise vigilance because the impact and waves of global turmoil are so devastating,” she emphasized.

The state revenue was initially estimated at only Rp1,846.1 trillion and was then revised to Rp2,266.2 trillion through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 98 of 2022. She recapped that the realization was Rp2,626.4 trillion. “The realization figure is 115.9 percent of Perpres 98. When compared to the initial state budget, this is an extraordinarily high increase.”

Sri Mulyani also assessed that the growth of state revenue was 30.6 percent compared to last year's realization of Rp2,011.3 trillion. Meanwhile, the realization of state spending reached Rp3,090.8 trillion, up by 10.9 percent from the realization in 2021.
