Tourism Minister Calls for Calm Amidst Criminal Code Fears

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno calls on tourists to remain calm and not be concerned over the recently passed Criminal Code. Sandiaga hoped that tourists can continue to enjoy their vacation.
"There are many questions about the Criminal Code's implementation. I have coordinated with the National Police Chief, it's nothing to be worried about," said Sandiaga on Friday, December 16, 2022.
Sandiaga made delivered the statement following a joint coordination meeting for the Christmas and New Year holiday period at the National Police headquarters.
The Minister said that the meeting was focused on securing the year-end holidays and ensuring that domestic and international tourists can feel welcomed as they travel across Indonesia's tourist attractions.
"We can make sure that your vacation in Indonesia will be as we have advertised, to be proud to travel in Indonesia. We will ensure a safe, pleasurable, and fun experience," the Minister explained.
Minister Sandiaga also focuses on permits for large-scale events to celebrate the two major holidays. He said that this adheres to President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s instruction to drive the economy.
