TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The city of Yogyakarta is set to host the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Early February for four consecutive days from February 2 to 5. The Head of the local tourism agency Singgih Raharjo said the event plans to invite 10 ASEAN members and five other countries as special invites.

“There are main events and side events that are being discussed and prepared,” said Singgih on November 29.

There will be two main agendas for the event, with the first being the meeting of tourism ministers from 10 ASEAN countries and tourism ministers from five invited countries such as China, South Korea, Japan, India, and Russia.

This inter-ministerial meeting is planned to be held at the Marriot Hotel, Sleman, Yogyakarta.

"In this inter-ministerial forum various international tourism issues will be discussed which will end with a joint declaration for cooperation in the development of tourism and the creative economy," said Singgih.

The second agenda in the ASEAN Tourism Forum will be the Travel Exchange which will be centered at the Jogja Expo Center (JEC), Bantul Regency, Yogyakarta, which will be in the form of exhibitions from businesses in the field of tourism.

“25 countries have confirmed their participation in this travel exchange,” he said.
