TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Health Agency predicted that the peak of COVID-19 cases in the city will occur at the end of November 2022.
“The peak of this (covid) case will occur around the end of November or early December,” said the agency head Widyastuti on Wednesday, November 23, 2022.
Based on the analysis results, the prediction does not only apply to the Jakarta area. “We studied and analyzed various inputs from experts. [The prediction] is almost the same in Indonesian regions and Jakarta,” she added.
Recently, the capital city logged around 2,000 new infections per day. “Most of them practice self-isolation because they have no symptoms or mild symptoms,” she explained.
Meanwhile, the hospital bed occupancy rate is now at 20-25 percent.
Thus, she appealed to the public to adhere to health protocols, such as wearing a mask and getting vaccines. “Wear a mask, especially in closed places, and make sure we are protected by vaccination,” Widyastuti underlined.
Vaccination Rate in Jakarta
The coverage of the covid vaccination in Jakarta sees a good trend. “Thanks to the cooperation and collaboration of various parties. The first and second vaccinations have very good coverage,” said Widyastuti.
Meanwhile, the third dose or booster vaccination rate remained at about 70 percent. “It needs to be continuously improved,” she said, calling on people to get booster shots immediately.
Jakarta has also begun administering the fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccines for health workers. As for the elderly, the local government is still waiting for the Health Ministry’s order.
