TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A large group of protestors consisting of labor union workers held a demonstration in front of the Jakarta City Hall on Friday, November 18, 2022. The protesters voiced their demand for a 13 percent minimum wage increase for 2023.

The protesters consist of members of The Indonesian Metal Workers Union (FSPMI), the Federation of Machine-Electronic Metal Workers Unions of All Indonesia (FS LEM SPSI), and the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI).

In addition to demanding an increase in the minimum wage, they also voiced their rejection of companies justifying layoffs under the presumption that a global recession is impending.

"We want to demand the Acting Governor of Jakarta to determine the UMP decision in 2023, that is in accordance with the aspirations of the workers," said one of the protesters.
