TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Mochamad Iriawan is set to undergo questioning as a witness for the police inquiry of the deadly match between Arema FC and Persebaya Surabaya at the Kanjuruhan Stadium, which resulted in the death of over 130 fans in a mass-stampede.

He is scheduled to undergo police questioning on Thursday this week.

National Police spokesperson senior commissioner Nurul Azizah said East Java Police investigators will summon other witnesses apart from Iriawan. They are a criminal expert from the Youth and Sports Ministry (Kemenpora) and the Law and Human Rights Ministry.

“Our plan is to question a criminal expert on November 2 and then summon a witness, the PSSI chairperson,” said Nurul at the National Police Main Headquarters on November 1.

Mochamad Iriawan and PSSI Deputy Chairman Iwan Budianto met the investigators from the East Java Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate on Thursday, October 20. The police examined both of them as witnesses for the suspects.
