TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights Directorate General of Immigration recently introduced a new type of visa for foreign nationals that is touted as the second home visa facility. This visa allows foreigners, who meet the plethora of requirements, to stay for up to 10 years in Indonesia.

Acting Director General of Immigration Widodo Ekatjahjana said this visa aims at international businessmen or elderly tourists who intend to stay longer and do business in Indonesia, Antaranews reported.

"Now we are trying to launch a non-fiscal stimulant policy to attract and invite them into (Indonesia), especially those who hold big capital, world billionaires to come to Indonesia," he said.

The policy which was launched in Bali on October 25, allows foreigners who get this visa to stay in Indonesia for 5-10 years to work, invest, and do other activities that contribute to Indonesia's economy.

Visa registration can be done through the visa-online.imigrasi.go.id webpage. Visa applicants must attach several required documents, namely a national passport, which is still valid for at least 36 months, and the proof of funds in the form of an account belonging to the applicant or guarantor with a minimum value of Rp2 billion or equivalent.

The non-tax state revenue (PNBP) tariff to file for a second home visa is Rp3 million. Widodo is optimistic that the second home visa policy can contribute positively to the national economy, especially in Bali as he believes the Visa on Arrival (VoA) service is proven to be able to contribute to PNBP.
