TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An early warning of hydrometeorological disasters for East Java, South Sumatra, and West Java is issued today, October 3, 2022, Indonesia’s Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has announced. The hydrometeorological disasters include floods, flash floods, and landslides due to heavy rains in the regions.
A number of regions including Bandung, Surabaya, Yogyakarta, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Pekanbaru, Banjarmasin, and Kupang are also predicted to see rainy weather accompanied by lightning today.
Meanwhile, Palembang of South Sumatra, Jakarta, Denpasar, and Semarang are expected to be showered by light rain. Other regions forecasted to have rain at moderate intensity include Serang, Tanjung Pinang, Bandar Lampung, Mamuju, and Medan.
Today’s weather forecast is influenced by the presence of cyclonic circulation detected in the Indian Ocean west of Sumatra and in the north of West Kalimantan as it increases the potential for rain cloud growth around the area.
The BMKG also estimated that the country’s air temperature may be between 19 - 33 degrees Celsius with the lowest temperature in Bandung and the highest temperature in Banda Aceh, Gorontalo, Surabaya, Banjarmasin, and Makassar.
