TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia’s President Joko Jokowi Widodo stated that the country recorded the highest economy among G20 countries. The economic growth reached 5.44 percent in the second quarter and was forecasted to hit 6 percent in the third quarter.

“Find G20 countries with economic growth above 5 percent. We are the highest among G20,” said the President in Jakarta on Thursday, September 29, 2022.

He asked all parties to be optimistic about continuing the country’s economic recovery trend. Jokowi acknowledged that Indonesia is dealing with complex challenges that are also faced by developed countries, such as food security, energy crisis, and financial turmoil.

However, he assessed that Indonesia can still maintain an ongoing and robust economic recovery. Some of the indicators, the state head outlined, are state revenues which have surged by 49 percent or at Rp1,764 trillion.

The revenues came from the hike in tax revenues by 58 percent to Rp1,171 trillion and the customs and excise receipts by 30.5 percent to Rp206 trillion. “That’s significant growth. The realization of Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) also amounted to Rp386 trillion, or grew 38.9 percent,” he explained.

In addition, the consumer confidence index was at 124.7 points and the bank credit rose to 10.7 percent. Indonesia's trade balance also posted a surplus for 28 consecutive months, totaling US$5.7 billion.

“This is a huge surplus. Our Prompt Manufacturing Index is also at 51.7 above global,” said Jokowi, who is upbeat about Indonesia's economic growth.
