Minister Sri Mulyani Confident in 6 Percent Growth in Q3

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati on Thursday revealed a number of indicators that have fueled the government’s optimism toward economic growth in Q3, which is aimed to reach 5.4 percent to 6 percent. The Minister said positive economic growth has shown in past quarters.
“President Joko Widodo’s calculation was between 5.4 - 6 percent in the third quarter (Q3), this means the momentum of recovery is still strong,” said Sri Mulyani in the UOB Economic Outlook 2023 on September 29.
Sri said the government took a role to save the domestic economy by utilizing fiscal instruments during times of crisis, such as the Covid-19 pandemic. The state revenue and expenditure budget (APBN), she said, has continued to act as a damper on economic turmoil.
As a result, in the second quarter of 2022, the Indonesian economy has returned to a growth of 5.44 percent. Mulyani believes Indonesia's economic performance is still strong even in the midst of the post-sluggish global economy.
The strength of the Indonesian economy can be seen in the general public who are still able to carry out activities as normal amidst dynamic world commodity and oil prices. World crude oil prices have risen 15 percent year-to-date, but have fallen 10 percent month-to-date.
