TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Pandjaitan claimed that Indonesia has become one of the countries that have a strong economy in the world.
“But we cannot avoid the situation in Ukraine, the tension with no end in sight that has affected food and energy sectors,” said Luhut at the National Maritime Day event on Tuesday, September 27, 2022.
The tensions between China and Taiwan, according to the minister, will also bring a lot of impact on the world economy. These geopolitical conflicts will indeed affect Indonesia.
“We are grateful that until today under President Jokowi's leadership, we are still able to ease this situation, but the question is how long can we do this?” he said.
Luhut, however, believed that Indonesia is united in this very crucial situation when the world was predicted to enter a global economic crisis or a perfect storm.
“Yesterday I was in New York, and they said that the world is entering a global crisis or a perfect storm in the near future,” he said.
Thus, Luhut stressed that the government must manage the country well. With Jokowi's leadership, and if all elements are united, Luhut is optimistic that the impact of the crisis on Indonesia could be suppressed.
