TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government will stop broadcasting analog television in Greater Jakarta on October 5, 2022. Special staff of the Communication and Information (Kominfo) Ministry, Rosarita Niken Widiastuti, said Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi have met the criteria of the analog switch-off (ASO) program to migrate to the digital television broadcast.
“So the end of analog broadcast by all broadcasters in Jabodetabek will be carried out simultaneously on October 5 at 24:00,” Niken said at a press conference at the Kominfo Ministry Building, on Friday, September 23, 2022.
Areas affected by ASO in Jabodetabek consist of 14 districts/cities, namely Central Jakarta, North Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta, West Jakarta, Thousand Islands, Bekasi Regency, Bogor Regency, Bekasi City, Bogor City, Depok City, Tangerang Regency, Tangerang City, and South Tangerang.
Niken appealed to Jabodetabek people who already had the opportunity to access digital television to immediately migrate. “No need to wait for October 5.”
Regarding the set-top box (STB) assistance for poor households, Niken said the Kominfo Ministry has distributed 63.4 percent or 479,307 units. She also claimed that the distribution funded by the state budget went according to plan.
“We will monitor it daily to complete it before October 5, 2022,” Niken added.
