TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The West Jakarta city administration deployed at least 60 officers a day from the Transportation Agency to keep tourists from parking carelessly in the Kota Tua or Old Town area.

“We mobilize 60 officers who work in three shifts to provide security,” said Head of the West Jakarta Transportation Agency Affandi Nofrisal when contacted in Jakarta, Tuesday, August 30.

The officers are dispatched to urge motorists not to park carelessly but at the determined location of Kota Intan. The officers will also encourage motorists to conduct emission tests on Jalan Cengkeh to maintain the area as a low-emission zone.

According to Affandi, the city administration bans public transportation from crossing the Old City area in order to reduce air pollution. The only vehicles that are allowed to pass are those belonging to employees of the tenants in the area.

Their vehicles must also undergo emission tests and get a special sticker indicating that they have passed the test. With this regulation, the Kota Tua area is expected to be a low-emission zone for residents and tourists to visit conveniently.
