TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's state power company PLN has made sure that all of Bali's electricity sub-system are in safe condition after yesterday's earthquake. On Monday afternoon, August 22, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the tourism island's coast.
"There were no post-earthquake disturbances and overall PLN's electrical assets are in a safe condition," PLN Bali general manager I Wayan Udayana said in a statement received by ANTARA in Denpasar, Selasa.
Wayan said that PLN has checked all of its infrastructure, and ensured that generators, transmissions, substations, and distribution networks are running normally.
"There is no disturbance of electricity supply to customers. We have also made sure that the electricity network close to the epicenter of the earthquake was not disturbed, including the location of the G20 side event," he said.
At 15:36 on Monday, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake 74 kilometers southeast from Kuta struck the island of Bali, with tremors felt in neighboring provinces of East Java and West Nusa Tenggara.
The quake's epicenter was recorded at a depth of 124 kilometers in the ocean. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said there was no potential for a tsunami.
