TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, has asked all Indonesian broadcasting and television personnel to increase the production of quality and educational shows for children.

In a video statement at the 2022 Child-Friendly Broadcasting Award (APRA) held at LPP RRI Auditorium on Saturday, she said that producing educational and quality shows was one effort all broadcasting and television personnel could undertake to shape the golden generation.

A regulation on producing such shows has also been outlined in the Broadcasting Law, which directs broadcasting and television personnel to produce content that protects and empowers special audiences, namely children and teenagers.

The minister further said that all children have the right to get appropriate information, in accordance with human dignity, that is in line with their mental and social development, including their age and maturity.

Puspayoga also invited all elements, including the government, business actors, academics, mass media, and citizens to contribute to creating a positive and conducive environment for children.

"Let us contribute to creating a positive and conducive environment for children to help them grow and develop optimally by spreading many positive things, including positive and qualified information for their development," she said.

Puspayoga lauded the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) for organizing the 2022 Child-Friendly Broadcasting Award, which is expected to encourage an improvement in the quality of television programs for children.

"I appreciate KPI for conducting this award. The event brought fresh air to hope for an increase in quality television programs for children," she added.

The minister also congratulated the winners of the 2022 APRA as well as the finalists for striving to produce quality content for the community.

She said she hoped that the award would motivate and inspire the television industry to help fulfill children's rights by presenting child-friendly shows.

"If we protect our children, our country will be brilliant," she added.
