TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Former Minister of Maritime and Fisheries Susi Pudjiastuti on Wednesday went to Twitter to express her criticism against the government’s decision to raise entry fees to the Komodo National Park to Rp3,75 million per person, which she argues shows yet again that policymakers are not concerned about people in the tourism business.
She vented her frustration to Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno, which she mentioned on the social platform.
“Dear Sandi, why again such an ignorance decision taking place again?" Susi tweeted on August 3.
She then mentioned another of the government’s policies of raising tourism site entry fees, which happened to the Borobudur Temple, which was planned to be raised to Rp750,000 per person.
Susi Pudjiastuti initially replied to Sandiaga Uno’s Tweet mentioning the series of strong protests from local and small tourism service providers who rely on their livelihood from tourists visiting Komodo Island.
