TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director General of Informatics Applications of the Communication and Information Ministry (Kominfo), Semuel Abrijani Pangerapan, stated that the ministry has unblocked a number of electronic system providers besides Paypal. They are video game developer Valve Corp and search engine Yahoo.
“The access to Valve Corp, starting from Steam, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), and Dota, as well as Yahoo, has been normalized since 08:30 today,” said Semuel in a written statement, Tuesday, August 2, 2022.
The digital platforms were blocked as they have not yet made a mandatory registration as electronic system operators (PSE). Prior to the blocking, the ministry had given a warning.
Semuel explained that access blocking is conducted based on the ministry’s monitoring of 100 unregistered online platforms with high traffic. The blocking is carried out gradually and is not permanent. The ministry will reopen the access once the platforms complete the registration process and send the PSE certificate via aduanpseprivat@kominfo.go.id.
The Kominfo Ministry will not force any digital platforms that are reluctant to register. “If they do not want to register, it’s their choice,” said Semuel in a press conference in Central Jakarta on Friday, July 29, 2022.
