TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Adib Khumaidi, chairman of the Indonesian Medical Association (IDI), said they would continue to urge people to get boosted for Covid-19. This, he said, is to remind the public that the pandemic is not over yet.

"We must continue to appeal because there are people who think that all of this is over. Here's another reminder; the pandemic is not over," he said after the 2022 World Medical Doctors Association conference at the Pullman Hotel in Jakarta, July 4.

According to Adib, vaccines are rolled out aggressively in an effort to prevent new cases from rising in Indonesia.

"But, again, this is not just about Covid. In principle, it is about taking care of our health better; preventing as opposed to treating, as it costs cheaper too," he said.

He also asked the public to make self-assessments about their personal well-being and to always follow the health protocols set by the government.

He said that booster vaccine rollouts must be reinforced with ample availability and good distribution, supported by qualified human resources. "I think that we still need the support and effort of all parties, regional [governments], and every stakeholder to accelerate booster rollouts," he remarked.
