TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued a weather forecast for Monday, July 4, predicting medium-intensity rainfall over a number of Indonesian regions such as Serang, Bengkulu, Ambon, and Ternate.

Lower intensity rain will likely shower over Central Jakarta, Gorontalo, Bandung, Surabaya, Pontianak, Samarinda, Bandar Lampung, Mataram, Pekanbaru, Mamuju, Makassar, Manado, and Medan.

The agency is monitoring the existence of a cyclonic circulation over West Papua that is creating a convergence zone stretching from this region up to the northern waters of Papua. Other convergence zones are also stretching from the West Aceh and Aceh waters at the Indian Ocean south of Banten-west of Lampung, in the Java Sea, from East Kalimantan to Central Kalimantan, from the waters of the Talaud Islands to the Sulawesi Sea, from northern Central Sulawesi to the eastern waters of East Kalimantan, from the Banda Sea to Southeast Sulawesi, and from the Arafura Sea to the Banda Sea.

This condition increases potential rain cloud formation in the perimeter of the cyclonic circulation across the convergence zone with an average temperature between 20=34 degrees celsius.

The BMKG has also issued a high tide early warning as the wind pattern in the northern part of Indonesia is dominantly moving from southeast to south with wind speeds ranging from 5-20 knots. Meanwhile, in the southern part of Indonesia, the dominant movement is from east to southeast with wind speeds ranging from 5-30 knots.
