TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati in the House Plenary on Thursday explained that Indonesia’s economy in 2021 had recorded a 3.69 percent growth which she claimed to be better than other countries.
In the plenary session that was aired publicly, Mulyani said, “This is a commendable achievement amidst a challenging situation.”
According to the minister, the gross domestic product or GDP in 2021 had even exceeded pre-pandemic levels in 2019 of 101.6 percent, which many countries have not yet reached. She compared this to France which logged 98.4 percent, Germany with 97.5 percent, Britain scored 96.4 percent, Malaysia with 96.4 percent, and the Philippines with 95.5 percent.

Sri Mulyani added that the poverty rate had decreased from 10.19 percent to 9.71 percent and the Human Development Index increased from 71.94 to 72.29.
