TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria said that the capital's Covid-19 positivity rate has declined from an average of two percent to 1.29 percent after the Eid homecoming or mudik period. On Wednesday, May 18, Riza said that the rate has been declining over the past seven days.

The capital government's data showed that during the homecoming period, between April 25 and May 1, the Covid-19 positivity rate was 1.99 percent with 888 confirmed cases. During the return period from May 9 to 15, the positivity rate was 1.29 percent with 757 cases.

The government allowed the annual tradition of Eid homecoming again this year after imposing a ban in 2020 and 2021. The mudik ban was lifted on the condition that travelers must receive booster vaccines and abide by health protocols.

"We will see the progress over the next week. We will continue to evaluate it," Riza said, Wednesday.

As of Sunday, 137 people occupied the Covid-19 patients' beds in 140 hospitals. Meanwhile, 34 currently occupy the 651 ICU beds available.
