129 in Jakarta Tested Positive for Covid-19

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta's Covid-19 cases increased by 129 as of Wednesday, May 11. The Jakarta Health Office stated that the results were obtained from PCR testing 12,568 specimens.

"From those tests, 9,521 people were tested by PCR today to diagnose new cases. The result was 129 positive cases and 9,392 negatives," the office's head of Disease Prevention and Control Division, Dwi Oktavia, said on May 11.

Dwi added that 25,843 people underwent antigen tests. The results were 45 positive and 25,798 negative.

Dwi said the positive antigen samples were not included in the total number, because they must be corroborated first through PCR examination.

On Wednesday, the number of active cases in Jakarta rose by 50, bring the total number of Covid patients under treatment to 771.

"We also urge the public to be aware of the Omicron variant transmission," she said.

To date, Jakarta's total Covid-19 caseload since the start of the pandemic reached over 1.24 million, with 1.23 million recoveries and 15,288 deaths. "The recovery rate is 98.7 percent and the mortality rate is 1.2 percent," Dwi said.
