Indonesia Successfully Administers Over 400 Million Covid-19 Vaccine

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Health Ministry announced that over 400 million Covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered across Indonesian regions. The number is close to the 450 million doses target set by the Covid-19 handling committee.

"This is a major achievement, thanks to the support from all levels of society," said the covid spokesperson from the Health Ministry Siti Nadia Tarmizi in a written statement on Thursday, April 28, 2022.

Out of the total number, as many as 199 million were first dose vaccines, which is the equivalent of 95.3 percent of the intended target. In addition, as many as 164.5 million of the second dose of vaccines have been administered, and as many as 36.8 million (17.68 percent) of the third dose of vaccines (booster vaccines) have been administered.

People within the elderly category (over 60 60 years old) remain a high-priority group because they are the most susceptible to Covid-19 infection. The elderly also suffers from the highest mortality rate due to Covid-19.

The achievement of the first dose of vaccination for the elderly reached 17.5 million (81.66 percent) while the second dose logged 13.9 million (64.74 percent) and the third dose was 3.7 million or 17.22 percent.
