TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State oil company Pertamina officially raised the price of non-subsidized gasoline of RON 92 type, also known as Pertamax, to Rp12,500 per liter. The price applies to regions that impose a 5-percent tax on motorized vehicles' fuels.

"Pertamina always considers people's purchasing power. The price of Pertamax is still more competitive in the market or compared to similar fuel prices from other gas station operators," Pertamina Patra Niaga acting corporate secretary, Irto Ginting, said on Thursday night, March 31.

The price increase only applies to non-subsidized fuel, which is absorbed by only 17 percent of Pertamina consumers. Irto ensured that the price of subsidized fuel, such as Pertalite and diesel, which are the fuel most consumed by 83 percent of customers, remained unchanged.

"The price is stable at Rp7,650 per liter," he said.

This price increase is the first in 3 years. Pertamina, said Irto, last adjusted the selling price of Pertamax in 2019.

The policy was made taking into account the world oil price soaring above US$100 per barrel, which pushed up the Indonesia Crude Price (ICP) to US$114.55 per barrel on March 24, up by 56 from December 2021's position.
