TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said the entry without quarantine policy for foreign travelers was expanded throughout Indonesia.

“[They are] only required to undergo an entry PCR test,” said the minister at the Weekly Press Briefing, Jakarta, Monday, March 21.

The policy was passed given the handling of the COVID-19 pandemic which was considered to be more under control thanks to the community's adherence to strict and disciplined implementation of the predetermined health protocols.

The COVID-19 task force’s circular regarding the quarantine-free entry policy will be issued no later than March 22, 2022.

In addition to the controlled handling of the pandemic, Sandiaga said the government referred to the smooth implementation of the policy trials in Bali, Batam, and Bintan for the policy expansion.

In the three regions, the virus positivity rate was reportedly very low and the reproduction rate continued to decrease.

“To remind us all, testing and tracing must be strengthened again. The antigen test as a travel requirement is indeed removed, but for surveillance, this (testing and tracing) must be strengthened,” he said.

Sandiaga Uno also said that the use of the PeduliLindungi COVID-19 mobile app must be further encouraged since, for the past few weeks, its usage has shown a downward trend.
