TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police (Polri) Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) has officially detained Indra Kesuma, an affiliator for a binary option trading app Binomo who is known more by his stage name Indra Kenz. The trading app has been deemed illegal by the government.

“Investigators have arrested IK for 20 days starting from February 25,” said Police spokesperson Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan on February 25.

The social media personality who made his name from showcasing his extravagant lifedata-style was named suspect for alleged investment fraud, disseminating misinformation, and money laundering. He was interrogated by police on February 24.

Indra Kesuma could get prison time up to a maximum of 20 years for multiple charges under Law No.11/2008 on information and electronic transactions, Law No.8/2010 on money laundering prevention and eradication.

His lawyer, Wardaniman Larosa said his client will cooperate with authorities and assist police investigators to uncover who runs the Binomo trading platform. He has stopped any promotion activities that would entice people into the trading platform.

“We are cooperative because to be honest, Indra Kenz does not know the people running the Binomo platform,” said Wardaniman.
