TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo said the global economy is ‘still shaken’ due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He opined that no country can recover alone.

“In a situation like now, no country can rise up alone. All countries are connected, no one is isolated,” he said in front of finance ministers and leaders of world financial institutions at the opening of the 1st Extraordinary Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting (FMCBG), Thursday, Feb. 17.

The President also said it is not the time for rivalry and create a new tension between countries like what is happening in Ukraine. He asserted that it is now the time to collaborate and awaken the world to recover.

In the meeting which was also attended by Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati and Bank Indonesia Governor Perry Warjiyo, Jokowi emphasized that all countries must work together to control rising inflation and anticipate food shortages and other logistics chains.

“We must anticipate the occurrence of hunger, we have a duty to carry out the transformation, we must accelerate the transition to a new economy,” the state head remarked.

Jokowi went on to say that G20 finance leaders could formulate fiscal and monetary policy measures to address common problems while strengthening global health.
